Things I've outsourced in my business that have changed the game for me
As a photographer, I’ve learned that trying to do everything in my business was draining my creativity and joy. It wasn’t until I started outsourcing that I realized how much of a difference it could make—not just in my workflow, but in my passion for what I do! Here’s how outsourcing has completely changed the game for me and why I’d encourage other photographers and creative entrepreneurs to consider it too.
The First Thing I Outsourced: Social Media
One of the first tasks I decided to outsource was social media. I was seriously slacking on posting my weddings, even though I knew that social media is one of the biggest ways to attract new clients, showcase my portfolio, and drive traffic to my website. But I kept putting it off because I started to loathe doing it! That’s when I knew it was time to get help.
How Outsourcing Helped Me Fall Back in Love with My Business
Outsourcing my social media was a game-changer. It gave me back my love for my business. Learning that I didn’t have to wear every hat in my business was so freeing! I suddenly had more time and energy to focus on the parts of photography that I truly enjoy—creating mood boards, scouting new locations, and putting extra care into my editing.
I realized that when you try to do everything yourself, you risk burning out and losing the joy that made you start in the first place.
Overcoming My Fear of Letting Go
If I’m being honest, I was really nervous about handing off my Instagram. It felt like my baby! But I’ve learned so much from letting go of control, not just in my business, but in my life, too. Trusting someone else to manage my social presence has helped me grow, and I’m so grateful I took the leap.
The Impact on My Clients & Business Growth
Since outsourcing, I’ve been able to invest more time into creating client guides, hopping on phone calls with potential clients, and streamlining my workflow. This means a better client experience overall! My business has grown, and I feel more present in my work, which allows me to serve my clients in the best way possible.
Advice for Creatives Nervous About Outsourcing
If you’re hesitant about outsourcing, my biggest advice is: just try it! You’ll never know how much of a difference it can make until you do. And if there’s a part of your business that you dread, whether it’s social media, editing, admin work, or something else, consider how much more energy and creativity you’d have if you could hand it off to someone else.
At the end of the day, improving the areas of your business that don’t bring you joy can make all the difference in how much you enjoy the work that does.
So if you’re on the fence about outsourcing, take it from me, it might just be the best decision you ever make!
