A Notebook-Inspired Engagement Session

As a photographer, there are certain sessions that just stick with you, not only for their beauty but for the sentiment and connection shared with the couple. This Notebook-inspired engagement session with Melanie and Adam was one of those moments. The love, creativity, and romance that came together for this shoot made it truly unforgettable.

The Vision Behind the Shoot

My bride, Melanie, brought this beautiful vision to me! She stumbled across a reel that showcased a location in Charleston, where the iconic movie The Notebook was filmed, and instantly fell in love with the idea. While Charleston is an incredible place, it’s also a solid 4 1/2 hours away from us, so I knew I had to find something a little closer. After searching high and low, I finally found a local pond that had just the right ambiance for our Notebook-inspired session. It felt like fate when I discovered this spot!

Melanie, who works at a floral shop, brought her incredible talent to the session with stunning flowers. As for the parasol, I thrifted it myself, adding a touch of whimsy and romance to the shoot. The combination of Melanie’s eye for florals and our shared vision made this session super romantic and a whole lot of fun.

The Couple Behind the Lens

Melanie and Adam are more than just clients—they are sweet friends. Our journey together started back in 2020 when they came to my very first fall minis session while they were still in high school. Since then, I’ve had the honor of capturing their senior portraits, couples' photos, and even Adam's proposal. And now, I get to be a part of their engagement session and soon, their wedding!

Melanie and Adam are tying the knot this upcoming June, and I honestly cannot wait to celebrate with them. Their love story has unfolded before my camera lens over the years, and being able to capture these special milestones means the world to me.

What I Loved Most About This Session

One of the things I absolutely adore is when a couple comes to me with a creative idea and trusts me to bring it to life. The addition of props, a unique location, and playful outfits can really elevate a session and create something magical. Melanie has always been a joy to work with, and this engagement session was no exception. Her excitement and vision made this experience special for both of us.

As we look forward to their wedding day, I can’t help but feel grateful to be a part of their journey. Here’s to many more beautiful moments ahead!
